Sigh -- I always think of the obvious immediately after I post...

I realized that it must be the instruction in 'rebuilding' that was
wrong [never believe what you see in print (:-/)] and went back to
figure out what it should be.

	poplibr -c $popobjlib/src.wlb *.w

worked correctly (as did using pglibr instead of poplibr).

Which brings up the question -- what exactly is the reason for
'pgcomp', 'pglibr', etc.?  What advantage do they give over the
straight pop operations?

bits fit together, and what should be used where, is a total maze to me.
