Why would you imagine that this would change the ease/difficulty of
running poplog on a Mac?

Darwin/IA-32 won't be materially different from Darwin/PPC.

The only reason I can see to expect them to behave materially
differently would be if the GCC code generator for PPC was
incompetently implemented, and of all the plausible difficulties to
surround OS-X, that strikes me as the _least_ likely...
