Subject:pop-forum poplog on fedora core 5, .not
From:Chris Dollin

Dear All

I am upgraded to Fedora Core 5. I have a pop11 failure or few.

(a) if I just run the existing images, I get

pop11: relocation error: pop11: symbol errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in
file libc.so.6 with link time reference

which is the long-standing `don't treat errno as an extern variable` issue finally
been given teeth. Something will Have To Be Done.

(b) if - in the spirit of enquiry - I do a reinstall, I get reported messages

    [kers@cdollin Imported]$ sudo ./INSTALL_BHAM_LINUX_POPLOG nomotif original default links > install.log
    Password:
./CHECK_LINUX_FACILITIES: line 37: cd: /usr/X11R6/lib: No such file or directory
    /usr/local/poplog/v15.6/pop/src/newpop: line 21: 13802 Segmentation fault corepop +$popsys/newpop.psv "$@"
rm: cannot remove `/usr/local/bin/poplog': No such file or directory
./INSTALL_BHAM_LINUX_POPLOG: line 341: cd: /usr/local/man/man1: No such file or directory

and multiple complaints in the logfile, which I attach in the hope it
will make it through the system.

I note the the FC5 release notes mention not doing hard linkes to X11R6 directories,
which I think is something we do do ...

If anyone has any advice on how to make progress, I'm interested. I am now popless
at work and on my laptop - and shortly, my home desktop machine ...
